19.10.2003 ~ 14.59 ... NEMATOSYS : RECORDING IN PROGRESS...
Nematosys are currently working hard on recording the 3 new tracks in Brickhouse Studios, Portslade.

So far, the drums, bass, guitars and keyboards are recorded and sounding like a spanky noodle. That's the easy part though ;)

We're going to devote an entire day recording the vocals (last time we bodged it in about 2 hours!) and hopefully, the whole thing will end up sounding like a spanky super noodle

After that, there is much editing, mixing and mastering to be done...

19.10.2003 ~ 14.59 ... 3TO GIG CANCELLED...
Nematosys have to had to withdraw from the bill at 3To in Worthing on Monday 20th October.

The reason for this is that 3To (formerly Area 51) is in fact a night club, and as such, they are extremely strict on Under 18's attending. Apparently, a band that were playing there last week had about 60 people turn up who were not allowed in because they were under age. This would also be a problem for actually getting the band into the venue as well, seeing as our drummer is only 16...

14.10.2003 ~ 21.54 ... NEMATOSYS DIDN'T GET INTO BOTB FINAL...
Following a rather energetic performance from the Nematosys possy on Sunday 12th October in their Battle of the Bands heat, which saw the opening bars of their set promptly lead into the first ever live performance of their newest song "So Transparent", the band failed to get into the final having been overshadowed by...well pretty much all of the other bands in their heat!

Perhaps in their error, the band played only one old song ... the rest of their set consisted of their newest songs, which could be considered to sound a lot "cleaner" and less heavy and "hardcore" than the likes of "Hide Away" and "Falling in Hate". The band perhaps feel that these "calmer tempoed" songs may have put a bit of a damper on the mosh pit.

However, the band proceeded to give out free pairs of Nematosys knickers / Nemaknickers, which were swiftly snatched up and could be seen worn on the outside of peoples clothes for the rest of the evening... If you didn't get a pair, they will be available to buy on this website very soon, along with some very nice T-shirts (skinny-fit and regular sized).

05.10.2003 ~ 13:53 ... NEMATOSYS ANNOUNCE STUDIO WORK...
Almost exactly a year after the release of the 5 track "Nematosys EP" which featured tunes such as "Falling in Hate" and the all-time favourite "Another Bribe", Nematosys will be entering the studio again at the end of October to record 4 new tracks.
While this is only going to be a 4 track EP, it is set to be the best yet. This is from an exclusive interview that Ju had with himself earlier this week:

"It's weird listening to the studio work we did a year ago and comparing it to how we sound now. As a band, we have definitely got a lot tighter and we've developed a more disciplined and varied writing style."

"Also, the thing with the Nematosys EP was that I wrote all of the songs (except Days, which Myk wrote). Unfortunately, it ended up that each of my songs all sounded very samey and a little boring. The great thing about the new songs is that we've sort of written one each. "Decline" was written by Myk and Matt, "Unwinding" was written by Pete, "Cliché" was written by Myk and "So Transparent" was written by myself. Then when we come to rehearse these songs, each of us says 'ooh, maybe we could do this here' 'that harmony there' 'this riff here' and it all comes to together and sounds amazing."

"Another thing we weren't happy about with the Nematosys EP was that we had to rush it - we ran out of money and had to mix 5 tracks in one day. The end result was that it sounded sloppy and badly mixed. This year, we're budgeting higher and spending more time mixing. We have a better idea of what we want to do and how we want it to sound."

So all in all, it looks like we can expect big things from the Nematosys lads!

27.09.2003 ~ 22:48 ... BATTLE OF THE BANDS...
Firstly a big pat on the back to Paradox for winning their heat on the 21st. They played excellently and out ranked every other band there including the trumpet band!
But enough about that excellent band and back to Nematosys.

NEMATOSYS NEED YOU!!

Do you think you have the fun, charisma, energy and general jump to be a Nematoasta? If so come to the Extra Time Bar on Sunday 12th October and support us in the bounciest way you know how. We have been working very hard to produce some new songs and they are sounding brilliant (even if I do say so myself) and with much luck they may see us through to the final. So come along and have a good mosh…and if that doesn't float your boat you can violently push people over consequently starting a fight all in the name of fun!

07.09.2003 ~ 21:57 ... WE ARE STILL ALIVE...
OK, from now on everytime I update the news section, you will see the new heading on the main page. That way, you don't have to keep those wrist and arm muscles quite so toned by continually clicking on "News" to see if it has been updated, as I am sure you all do. All... 5 of you ...who come on here everyday.
So anyway, we're still here. We've entered Horhsam Battle of the Bands and our heat is on Sunday 12th October. We're really looking forward to it, and if all goes to plan, it will be the first public performance of our newest song...
While I'm here, I might as well mention the next Worthing gig. Unfortunately, there will be no more gigs at The Waterfront because the venue have deemed our music too "hardcore". Maybe it's all that palm-muting? Or maybe they're just lame? Anyway, our new Worthing venue is called 3To (my brother has kindly informed me that it is a shithole) and we will be performing there on the evening of Monday 20th October. If seeing Nematosys isn't your idea of fun, then maybe you'll be tempted by the fact that entry is free and the drinks are cheap... or then again, maybe not...
22.07.2003 ~ 00:26 ... THE WATERFRONT GIG ~ WORTHING
All in all a pretty good gig....decent venue (with a view of the sea!) nice crowd, and they seemed to enjoy our set? We will probably be playing there again soon so...watch out...
13.07.2003 ~ 12:24 ... LOOK! ANOTHER UPDATE!!
Just to let you all know, in case you haven't looked already...I've finally updated the "Band" section with individual profiles. Still waiting for Dil and Pete to do theirs though....
10.07.2003 ~ 21:59 ... LONG TIME NO UPDATE - BAD MONKEY JU
Our apologies for not ever updating this website. It's all Ju's fault. Anyway, we've been fairly quiet over the last couple of months, aside from Miffstock, which turned out to be a bit of a disappointment for those performing. What happened to the atmosphere?! But hey, it was a gig and there were loooads of people there. So stop complaining.
Then there was that charity "gig" at Sightsavers International Open Day @ Haywards Heath. Unfortunately, this took place on Sunday 22nd June, which just so happened to be the day after the new Harry Potter book was released. Needless to say, a certain couple of band members did not really have their minds on the job...Also, by the time we finally got on stage, most people had buggered off home and by the time we'd finished playing, we seemed to have persuaded the remaining few people to go home as well. Never mind, it was a good laugh all the same!
Anyway, you can next catch Nematosys tomorrow (11th July) at BBH with Slaughterhouse, £3 on the door. After this you can catch them at The Waterfront in Worthing on Monday 21st of July. That's as much information as I can provide at this stage, but I'd say it's a pretty safe bet to turn up at about 7:30pm with a fiver in yer pocket...
After this, it looks like another summer of gruelling practises and pub sessions leading up to this years Horsham District Battle of the Bands which looks set to take place in early September.
09.04.2003 ~ 20:17 ... NEMATOSYS CONFIRM MIFFSTOCK APPEARANCE!
Miffstock looks all set for being the gig of all gigs to start the summer rolling! It's going to take place on Friday 24th, Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th of May at the Extra Time Bar in Broadbrige Heath.
Nematosys will be filling the second from last slot on Sunday night, shortly followed by The Indigo Sunrise.
And it's all in the name of charity! Click here for more...
07.04.2003 ~ 23:57 ... FORMAL APOLOGY ISSUED BY NEMATOSYS
Following their recent apalling gig with the rock-meisters of Horsham, Dust'n'Bones, Nematosys have issued a formal apology to their adoring fans & loved ones during a brief post-gig interview with Nematosys.co.uk. "We're so sorry", sobbed guitarist and full-time monkey, Ju, "We've failed you all and ... we will never forgive ourselves for this". As we struggled through a heaving crowd of sweaty gerbils, we finally found another Nematosys member rocking in a corner; "It was terrible", spluttered goofy front man Myk "We played SO badly, and afterwards we had these random people coming up to us offering sympathetic comments of encouragement! One woman even had the cheek to say that we..."tried some really hard songs"..." We needn't remind you that Nematosys perform their own songs, and this gig was no exception to that.
SO what does this all mean? Will the band fall apart, fall in hate and never return to light another stage again? We don't think so and the enthusiastic and all round generally expressive, bouncy drummer-boy didn't seem to think so either:

Nematosys.co.uk: "So do you think Nematosys will fall apart following this atrocious performance?"
Pete: "Grunt"
Nematosys.co.uk: "I see. So, any new material in the proceedings?"
Pete: "Grunt"
Nematosys.co.uk: "Fascinating. What are your views on a post-war government in Iraq?"
Pete: "Yeah, I need to sort that"

So it looks like a positive future all-round for the Nematosys lads. As far as we can make out, there are a couple of new songs in the pipeline and the summer should see a good handful of appearances from the band in the local area. Watch this space...

10.03.2003 ~ 21:50 ... BAAAAAAAAND NIIIIIIIGHT!!
It was amazing. I played my first band night in 1997 ... and there has never ever been one to match this one. Everything from the quality of the sound to the change-overs between bands was impeccable. I must also say that I was especially impressed by Toby & Adam's death metal band. They were sooo tight and that double-bass drumming... ... wow.
Paradox were also wonderfully splendid. They have a website now, so if you like them, check it out
And that brings me to Nematosys, who filled the last slot of the evening with their mixture of jolly and depressing tunes. They were also fronted by a rather hyper-active Mykrabbit, who got SO excited, he actually threw-up on stage! Nobody noticed though, because he was very sly about it. Then he took it upon himself to do a bit of crowd surfing...which was great! Then he decided he would actually JUMP into the crowd. That wasn't so great, cos everybody moved out of the way...he landed on his head and now thinks he is an Oompa Loompa.
A big big big thanks to Seb & Duncan who managed to organise the whole thing AND fund a brand spanky new Pearl Export drum kit for the school! And also thanks to Seb again for the pizzas afterwards :D
10.03.2003 ~ 21:42 ... A LONG EXPECTED UPDATE!
It's been a busy start to 2003 for the Nematosys rabbits. Following the great success of the London gig, they took it upon themselves to...well...not really do much.
Actually, that's not entirely true. Throughout February, they rehearsed lots and sorted out a couple of new (and long overdue!) songs, which are sounding fantastic.
As the webmaster(bater), I feel a must apolgise for my lack of updates. Whenever I come to do a new update, I normally get as far as just thinking about it. So by the time I've finished thinking about it, I forget, but because I have already thought about it I think that I have updated it. Which is very confusing...especially when I log onto the website only to find that that wonderful update I'd so lovingly thought up has disappeared...
Actually, it's all Tasha's fault. She made me play this game. And now I can't stop playing it.
30.01.2003 ~ 17:40 ... NEMATOSYS DO LONDON!
Following the band's dealings with Northern Xposure (a promotional company who organise gigs for unsigned bands) Nematosys have finally played in London. This was Upstairs @ The Garage in Highbury, Islington. Similar in size to an oversized broom cupboard, the venue was suitably well-filled by the Nematoasters who the band dragged along with them on a coach.
The band played a 25 minute set, featuring the 5 tracks from their latest EP and one previously unheard, and yet-to-be-recorded track, which surprisingly, has no name (good one, Myk).
A big thank you to all who came and supported us ... it will be a night to remember for many years to come. Sod ya if you didn't come, you miserable buggers, it was a brilliant gig!

20.11.2002 ~ 15:16 ... NEMATOSYS MENTIONED ON RADIO 1!
Nematosys were mentioned on John Peel's Radio 1 show last night. Listen to the action here. This should be followed by an ambitious campaign to actually get one of the band's new tracks played on air ...

7.11.2002 ~ 15:23 ... NEMATOSYS EP ON SALE
We will be selling copies of the Nematosys EP at Extra Time Bar, BBH on 8th November, where we will be supporting the awesome Indigo Sunrise with support from Everafta as well. Start at 7:30pm, 3 bands = £3. CDs are £2, so by my calculations, bring a crisp 5 pound note and you can't go wrong!

3.11.2002 ~ 13:26 ... NEMATOSYS DIDN'T WIN BATTLE OF THE BANDS!
It was a night to remember. 7 bands, 6 losers, 5 members of Nematosys, 4 lame bands, 3 deemed worthy of being rated, 2 randy goats and 1 corrupt judging system! Everafta still didn't win...what's that all about then?
Nematosys performed amazingly well, supported once again by their Steyning groupies who seem to follow them everywhere...well, almost. The boys had great fun performing and the new songs went down well..!

30.10.2002 ~ 20:02 ... NEMATOSYS EP COMPLETED
Well that's it, the end of 3 gruelling days in Brickhouse Studios, which included; the death of Ju's car, a big crate of breakfast beer at 10:30am, excessive amounts of KFC, a big old piss-up session at Tasha's house and 5 lads who now have even less money than they did before...!

But it was all worth it. The new songs sound great and the recording is of a very high quality (despite the dodgy mixing). Watch this space for details of release date...

15.10.2002 ~ 22:35 ... NEW NEMATOSYS EP!
Nematosys are scheduled to record their as yet untitled EP on 28th & 29th October. This will include songs only previously heard live before; "Falling in Hate", "Hide Away" and "Days" as well as the 2 old favourites "Another Bribe" and "Let Me Out".

15.10.2002 ~ 22:30 ... NEMATOSYS THROUGH TO HORSHAM BATTLE OF THE BANDS FINAL!
Following a brilliant (if a little, let's say, messy) performance on Sunday by the boys in black & white, Nematosys went on to be the judge's "Wildcard" choice for the final, which will take place at Horsham Carfax Bandstand on Saturday 2nd November 2002.

Also, congratulations are in order for the Paradox boys, who performed much better than Nematosys and consequently came first! A brilliant performance, and top quality tunes from them. Nice to see TWO Steyning bands going through to the final this year!

15.10.2002 ~ 22:25 ... NEW WEBSITE!
Welcome to the new Nematosys website, brought to you by your hosts, Ju & Tasha!
